The Musiquita Choir: SONGBIRDS IN HARMONY (ages 8-13)
Registration is now open for the fall 2025 season of Musiquita’s Children’s Choir: SONGBIRDS IN HARMONY
Please read all of the info below carefully:
ABOUT:
The choir is open for up to 30 young talents, ages 8-13. Your young singer should demonstrate a passion for singing and should have at least some musical training. They should be able to match pitches easily, carry a melody with conviction and most importantly, sing from the heart!
The repertoire will incorporate Musiquita originals in English and Spanish (no prior Spanish language experience necessary), as well as our very own arrangements of covers, including songs from the Great American Songbook, jazz standards, Latin American classics, pop, rock and more. The singers will be provided with a songbook as well as pdf’s and audio demos (coming late August).
This is a performing ensemble. We’ll be doing 10 weeks of rehearsals (see schedule below), leading up to a dress rehearsal and a performance at Flushing Town Hall on Nov. 22nd with the full choir and a four peice band! Attendance for the rehearsals and concert is required and there are no refunds for absences. In the event of illness or an emergency, of course, do what you need to do, but otherwise, we look forward to seeing your child each and every week, as we will be incrementally developing the arrangements and choreography. In addition to our Town Hall show, we will be periodically inviting the choir to join us for other performances, which will not be mandatory. We’ll email the families as opportunities arise. Please note that performances may be filmed/documented and used for future promotional purposes for the choir.

DRESS REHEARSAL: 12-1pm
BREAK: 1-2:30pm (Please pack lunch. We’ll need parent volunteers on site.)
PERFORMANCE: 2:30-3:30pm
LOCATION: Flushing Town Hall

ENROLLMENT FEES:
Songbook: $10 (to be given out on 9/6)
Rehearsals: $30/week for 10 weeks, 75 min per rehearsal ($300)
11/22 Performance Fee: $50, which includes free tickets for the direct family of the singer! This fee helps us rent the venue, hire the musicians and pay for publicity. We will also be asking the families of the choir members to help spread the word.
